If we chose to name ourselves “Serial Hikers”, it’s because we like to hike whenever we can! So, when we stayed in Tivat, we naturally chose to visit Kotor bay by undertaking the 360-degree hiking trail that connects the cities of Tivat and Kotor through mountain ridges… Nothing better to admire a 360° panorama between bay and sea!

After a day’s walk in the countryside of south-western Slovenia, we met funny tourists on our way! They were looking for a church called “the Holy Trinity”, whose walls would be painted with skeletons… Intrigued, we followed them in their quest and ended our route in Hrastovlje, a small village nestled at the bottom of a valley…
On our way between Mostar and Sarajevo, our driver dropped us off in Jablanica – before leaving on his own. It was noon, lunch break: we decided to take advantage of this stop between two lifts to have a picnic. With a large loaf of bread and a jar of Ajvar, we headed towards the beautiful turquoise blue river Neretva to enjoy the view it offered us… And there, surprise! We found ourselves in front of a destroyed and partly submerged railway bridge!

On the menu of traditional Balkan recipes, you will find a lot of meat – cooked, marinated in sauce, barbecued… It took a lot of effort to adapt traditional recipes with vegetarian alternatives – but most of all, to allow us to enjoy the Balkan food, where cooking skills are perfectly combined with good, locally grown products!
“What’s good to see in Albania?” we asked one of our former hosts in Turin (Italy), whose family is originally from Albania… “Lots of things! Beaches, mountains, castles, the World Heritage cities of Berat and Gjirokaster, and the Blue Eye…” Blue Eye? What could that be? We looked on Internet, in search for the answer and found some amazing pictures… It’s decided, we are going to visit the Blue Eye!
